Our rehabilitation programs are based on Contingency Management principles and are all about providing people in recovery meaningful and rewarding activities that:
We have a large “men’s shed” style workshop where you can build furniture or other timber items out of recycled wood.
Our Arts and Craft room is a safe space to express your thoughts and emotions in creative ways; paint, draw, sew, crochet and more.
We’re located right on the Hunter River and fishing is a great way to spend time in nature, improve mindfulness and soothe anxiety.
Play some tunes on our guitar or piano, cook up a storm in our cosy kitchen, relax with a book from our varied collection, get your thumb green in our garden - there’s sure to be something you enjoy doing at Kwila.
Start by calling 0456 983 384 to arrange a time to come and meet us and look at the centre. If you feel our approach is right for you, we’ll conduct an Intake Assessment Interview and then help you start developing your Recovery Plan. Transport to and from Kwila Rehab can be arranged from a central point in Newcastle.
When you first arrive at Kwila Rehab, we’ll help you develop a Recovery Plan. We take an individual approach to treatment so your plan will be tailored to your needs. We’ll connect you with appropriate support groups and other social services where required, we’ll let you know if we think you should seek referrals to psychological care and how to go about it, and we’ll recommend which of our day-based activities we think might be right for you.
