I started drinking alcohol when I was 6 years old, even though it made me sick and I didn’t like the taste of it. My first cone of marijuana was given to me when I was 8 years old. I tried LSD when I was 13 years old; I kept using it, but it gave me constant blackouts and I would wake up with different women. I started using amphetamines when I was 18 years old. At first I snorted it, but after about 6 months I was introduced to a needle and that lead to me trying heroin.
I discovered ice when I was 25 years old, and it became my drug of choice. Within two years I had lost my job, my family and my house – I was homeless and living on the streets. I continued using drugs until I was 43 years old. I had no sense of reality.
Then I found Kwila Rehab.
The people at Kwila Rehab helped me develop a Recovery Plan; which included coming to Kwila a few days every week and also attending NA meetings. Kwila has given me a new life. I've learnt how to build things out of wood, how to cook and how to fish. I've also spent time creating art which I never did before and I love it. Kwila has given me the tools to make better choices and to be a better father.
Now I’ve been drug-free for ten months.
Kwila Rehab is where I got clean. It has changed my life.
